Bubbles & Bella

I’ve always believed that dogs are supposed to be a man’s best friend, but I just read about a black Labrador who has become the inseparable pal of an elephant living in a Myrtle Beach S.C. safari park. The elephant’s name is Bubbles and the dog’s name is Bella. Bubbles  has learned to throw a ball for Bella, who races to retrieve it. The two also swim together, and Bella loves to dive off of Bubbles’ head. They have an interspecies friendship. What a great example for us humans!

Dispatcher goes "above and beyond" the call of duty

 

When a bride-to-be in Washington State discovered that her wedding dress had been stolen from her car on the morning of her wedding day, she called 911 in tears. The dispatcher sent the police, and then asked what size the dress was. Amanda (the bride-to-be) turned out to be the same dress size as the dispatcher, who just happened to have been married a few months before. She offered her dress to Amanda, and the wedding ceremony had a “happily ever after” ending!

"I see a plastic surgeon in your future...."

Did you know that Japanese people intent on changing their fate are now having plastic surgery to alter their hands? In the ancient art of palm reading, the lines on the hands supposedly govern one’s life. Plastic surgeon Takaaki  Matsuoka charges $1,000 per 10 minute operation. The surgeon says that most male patients want to change lines associated with money and business, while women generally ask to change their love lines. That’s not surprising!

Over the Rainbow

The last wish of hospice patient Dorothy Ellis, 92, was to soar above the fields of her hometown in lola, Kansas, in a powered parachute  (That’s right. Whatever Lola wants!) Six weeks before her death, Ellis’s family hired a pilot to grant her wish. Here is  a video of Dorothy’s flight, which shows her laughing, clapping, and giving a “thumbs up”… all of it set to the song “ Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

Super Discovery

A young man in Minnesota was gutting a fixer-upper when he spotted an old comic book tucked in with the newspapers used to insulate the wall. He figured the colorful discovery might be worth something, but was amazed to discover it was actually one of the rarest comic books of all time-the 1938 ACTION COMICS #1 that introduced the world to Superman. The young man will likely reap a six-figure sum from the book’s auction…and the dilapidated house he’s fixing up cost him $10,000…pretty good return on his money!  

DUA (Driving Under Age)

So… Did you hear about the 6-year-old boy who got pulled over for driving a car erratically in Lapeer, Michigan? He explained that he took his dad’s car because he wanted to get some Chinese food. “I don’t know how he was able to operate everything and see at the same time,” said the policeman.
